The origins of Lunar Clock date back to 2014. After initial line-up changes, the definitive ensemble was formed in 2015 with keyboardist/singer Robin Boer, drummer Karsten van Straten, bass player Achille Regazzoni, and guitar player Shardan Stream.

The band’s sound quickly evolved from art pop into art rock, deeply rooted in the progressive and symphonic rock of the early 70s. This stylistic shift was anchored by musical concepts inspired by the famous Edvard Munch painting, ‘The Scream Of Nature’ (Norwegian: ‘Skrik’). These ideas were realized using classic instruments like the mellotron, Moog synthesizers, and bass pedals. Both Boer and Stream developed this core concept into an ambitious, 40-minute musical suite. Although the band rehearsed the material extensively, it ultimately transitioned into a sole studio project. The resulting work was met with significant praise, garnering many favorable reviews from renowned magazines across the globe.
The second album, titled ‘Lunar Clock II’, was released on December 5, 2025, featuring eight brand new pieces with a total playtime of 56 minutes. ‘Lunar Clock II’ is a journey through the landscapes of the inner and outer self. It courageously explores the chasm between observation and interpretation, the dance of duality, and the solitary path toward transformation and purpose. Musically, the album is a deep and organic evolution of the band’s signature sound, weaving darkness and light into an intricate, seamless tapestry. Listeners familiar with their debut will discover subtle conceptual echoes, rewarding a close and immersive listen. The 56-minute album is a collaborative creation of Robin Boer (keyboards, lead vocals), Achille Regazzoni (bass guitars, keyboards, FX, twelve-string guitar), and Karsten van Straten (drums, percussion, FX, keyboards, backing vocals). Notably absent from this production was Shardan Stream, who was devastated and in deep mourning after a sudden personal loss; however, he will be present again for future Lunar Clock developments, and there are plans to present works from both albums on stage in 2026.
